As you know Boutique North is all about showcasing the best independent creatives who are getting things done for themselves, and Hollie Fernando is a perfect example of this! We have wanted to feature Hollie for some time now, ever since we first came across her unique photography style in her shots with UK producers bondax and Karma Kid. We immediately fell in love with her photographs and have been fans ever since.
The 22 year old freelance photographer from south london has already done shoots for Warner Music, Polydor, Infectious, Parklife Festival, Soundwave Croatia Festival, American Apparel, Lazy Oaf, The White Pepper and Indcsn to name a few and you can also see her work featured in the following contemporary magazines and blogs : FHM, Front, HUH, Girls on Film, Nylon Guy’s Mag, SBTV, The Daily Street, Suitcase Magazine and other smaller independent magazines such as Zeum Mag and Ballad of.
Growing up in South London on the fringes of the countryside is where she says was perfect for her as it offered such a diverse choice of locations for her shoots. Hollie first got into photography when she found a box of her father’s 1960s cameras in the attic aged 15 and this is where her fascination with old cameras began later developing into her unique style that she shoots with today. On describing her style she says “In three words it would be dreamy, youthful and happy.” – Which we totally agree with!
The young photographer recently answered a great question in her interview with explorecreaterepeat.com that we thought would be rude not to share. The question was “What does your perfect day look like, and where does photography fit into it?” You can check out her answer below:
“I lived my perfect day very recently when I was travelling in Thailand. My wonderful friend and I were exploring the jungle hills of Pai (northern Thailand) on our mopeds, going from waterfall to waterfall in the sun. We were living in a bamboo hut on the river with some kittens we rescued, surrounded by beautiful locals and other travellers all there for love and experience — where doesn’t photography come into that?! I will always be happiest exploring and experiencing simple pleasures with people that are just brimming with energy and life.”
